2021 Planting Complete

As of yesterday, May 16th, all of the 2021 crop is in the ground.  We finished with the corn Sunday after pausing for a light rain Saturday afternoon.  Last night we received 0.3″ of rain and another 0.1″ so far today.  The corn is all emerging well and made it through the few cold mornings and frosts unscathed.  The soybeans did have some frost damage but most are already showing new growth at the cotyledon growing points(See pictures).  In some soybean fields we have lost some stand but we will re-evaluate when it dries up later in the week before making any re-plant decisions.  The grain market has made a retraction in the last week but has seemed to stabilize.  Fall cash corn is back to $5.19 after a run to over $6.00.  Fall cash soybeans  are $13.75 after being over $14.25.  We are currently working on our post planting paperwork and preparing for sidedressing nitrogen and post spraying.
