The last of the soybeans were planted yesterday, April 28th. The first planted beans are starting to emerge. We received between 0.8” and 1.3” of rain over night. The added moisture was just what we needed to help get all these early planted beans out of the ground. We started planting corn on the Monday the 26th. With two good days running we have over 25% of the corn planted. Markets continue to climb with fall cash corn at $5.21 and soybeans at $12.93.
We are well ahead of an average year when it comes to planting progress, prices are strong, and having our inputs pre-purchased has insulated us from rising costs and supply shortages. The 2021 season is off to a great start!
