Happy Holidays!

The end of the year is rapidly approaching.  We had an excellent end to the fall weather wise and all the field work was completed in optimum conditions.  Fall herbicides were applied to all the farms going to beans in 2018 and light tillage was completed on all the farms going to corn.  It wasn’t until the first part of December before the decisions on crop rotations for the upcoming season were finalized.  Like this past year, in 2018 we will be growing more soybeans than corn.  Economics are once again driving this decision.  Soybean incomes per acre greatly outpaced corn income for 2017 and the market is signaling a similar outcome for the upcoming season.  Marketing of the 2018 crop began as soon as the cropping decisions were made.

The last weeks of the year are always a paperwork scramble trying to get bills pre-payed, tax planning done, and the previous year evaluated.  All of the inputs for the 2018 crops have been selected.  We are finishing up the input bookings this week and all the billing should be done by year end.

Thank you to everyone we work with for making 2017 another successful year.  We could not do what we do without the landowners, suppliers, service providers, and end users that support us.  Merry Christmas and happy new year to you all.  Hope you have a safe and enjoyable holiday season!
