Nitrogen Fertilizer Management Project

We have worked very diligently to improve our efficiency with crop inputs in recent years, utilizing new science and equipment technology as it has become available.  This year we are one of many host sites for Crop Tech Consulting and Cornell University’s Adapt-N nitrogen management program.  The host field will be 80 acres of the Rudasill Farm.  This program is aimed at better managing nitrogen rates to reduce losses and maintain yields.  It uses advanced computer modeling to track crop nitrogen uptake and losses.  With this information we will be able to track soil nitrate levels on a daily basis and make changes to our fertilizer applications.  This study will be part of a pilot program allowing the Cornell team to calibrate their models for Illinois soils and weather.  More information on the Adapt-N program can be found by clicking here.
