Side-dressing and Spraying Continues

Since the last update we have been utilizing the weather window to get most of our spraying done.  I can not remember another year when we have had a stretch of weather this ideal for getting our post spraying done.  We are down to less than a day each of post corn and post soybean spraying.

The side-dressing is going well too.  Over 25% of the corn has been Y-dropped, and thanks to Evan and Cameron, all the soil nitrate samples have been taken.  It has been a friendly weather year for low nitrogen losses.  Most fields are getting their planned nitrogen rate but we have bumped a few up due to increased yield goals.  The corn stands on many farms are better than average so we have increased our goals on those farms.

The market continues to be volatile, most recently on the up side.  Local cash corn is now at $5.92 and beans are at $14.36.  The roller coaster continues!

The date has been set for our annual Just A Mere Farm Appreciation Dinner.  It will be held in the evening on Saturday August 28th here at the farm.  Invitations with more info to follow….
