This year we are doing three different nitrogen plots to evaluate our current fertility program. On one farm we are comparing our zone based variable rate nitrogen program to the Cornell Adapt-N program, which we discussed in a previous post. We also have two plots where we are looking at various methods of sidedress nitrogen application. We are comparing our current system, a Blu-Jet sidedress bar, to using the sprayer to band between the rows and using the sprayer to band in the row using a new attachment called the Y-Drop. The application study is being done in partnership with the Farm Journal Test Plots and will be featured in the magazine in the future.
